Grantham Town can trace their history back to 1874, The Gingerbreads (named after a local delicacy!!) spent their early years in Midland Leagues, winning the League Title on three occasions in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Terry Bly’s team saw three league titles in less than ten years and a number of FA Cup ties (and victories) against league opposition.

This success led to a move to the Southern Premier League and the last 50 years have seen the club win promotions to the Premier Division of either the Southern League or Northern Premier League 5 times, four times as League Champions. The Gingerbreads have spent the last 10 years in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, getting to the play-off final in 2017-18.

Jack Macartney holds the club goalscoring record with 416 goals for the club in 456 appearances just after the second world war. Adrian Speed holds the club appearance record, turning out 667 times over a 17 year period between 1989 and 2006. The Gingerbread also gave their first managerial roles to Gary Mills and Martin O’Neill.

The Gingerbreads play at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium (known as The Meres) on Trent Road in Grantham.
